PM Modi inaugurates rail projects enhancing connectivity in Maharashtra – Project details inside
Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated two rail projects during his visit to Maharashtra today. Both the projects will improve the connectivity in the region and boost the local economy. These projects are – (a) Electrification of Kurduwadi-Latur Road railway section and (b) 3rd and 4th railway line connecting Jalgaon to Bhusaval.
A look at detailed info about these projects:-
Electrification of Kurduwadi-Latur Road railway section
The electrification of Kurduwadi-Latur Road railway section will provide an alternative route to Pune-Wadi-Secunderabad section along with Central Railway (CR). The electrification work of the 186-km-long stretch has been completed by the Central Organisation for Railway Electrification (CORE), an organisation set up in 1961, under the Ministry of Railways.
The electrification of Kurduwadi-Latur Road railway section has many advantages such as the operational cost will be reduced. It will also reduce the dependence on imported diesel fuel, thereby saving precious foreign currency and reduced carbon footprints. It will also increase the sectional capacity by eliminating detention on account of traction change.
3rd and 4th railway line connecting Jalgaon to Bhusaval
The Prime Minister will also dedicate the 3rd and 4th railway line connecting Jalgaon to Bhusavalon Thursday. This ambitious project will prove to be beneficial for rail passengers as it will ensure faster movement of trains along the route. Both the lines will play a significant role decongesting rail traffic between Jalgaon and Bhusawal junction railway station.
